FLO Uttarakhand, under the leadership of Chairperson Tripti Behl, hosted meetings with the Honourable Tourism Minister, Sh. Satpal Maharaj Ji and Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Jharna Kamthan, Uttarakhand State Rural and Livelihood Mission to discuss upcoming FLO Bazaar (Wedding Edit), a premier curated exhibition designed to position the state as India’s leading sustainable destination wedding hub.
Aligning with the national “Wed in India” vision, this high-profile event serves as both a commercial and cultural launchpad, highlighting Uttarakhand’s scenic landscapes, rich heritage, and premium hospitality infrastructure to elite consumers, wedding planners, and hospitality stakeholders. Beyond destination tourism, the core objective of the bazaar is to drive grassroots socio-economic empowerment by creating a direct bridge between the luxury wedding market and grassroots women entrepreneurs.
Through a unique “Rural to Royal” supply chain model, the event integrates rural Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and women entrepreneurs under the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission (USRLM) into the high-value wedding industry, allowing them to showcase premium wedding favors, traditional Pichoras, local brassware, artisanal decor, and organic gift hampers featuring Hilans brand products. To ensure sustainable impact, the collaboration extends into structured capacity-building and skill-enhancement initiatives.
Ahead of the exhibition, FLO Uttarakhand and USRLM will conduct joint mentorship workshops focusing on luxury product design, premium packaging, and competitive pricing to help rural artisans meet high-end market standards. Additionally, the event floor will host live digital and financial literacy programs to train rural entrepreneurs in digital payment adoption and online business management.
Backed by the Honourable Tourism Minister, Sh. Satpal Maharaj ji, the Tourism Department will provide destination branding and marketing amplification to elevate the event’s reach, while USRLM, under CEO Ms. Jharna Kamthan (IAS), will facilitate connections with high-potential community organizations and sponsor stalls for rural beneficiaries.
Ms. Jharna appreciated the efforts of FICCI FLO Uttarakhand in promoting women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship. She expressed interest in exploring meaningful collaborations that can create greater impact for women across rural and urban areas of Uttarakhand.
By converging state tourism goals with grassroots livelihood missions, the FLO Bazaar (Wedding Edit) effectively bridges the urban-rural divide, establishing a scalable, impactful model for women-led economic growth, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism development across both rural and urban areas of Uttarakhand.
