FLO Kanpur organized “Bond Over Calligraphy” on 16th May 2026 as a creative and skill-building workshop under the themes of Skilling and Visual Arts. The session was conducted by Archana Gupta and brought together members, children, and other beneficiaries to explore the beautiful art of calligraphy in an engaging and relaxed environment.
The workshop was designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of calligraphy while providing them with an opportunity to learn a new artistic skill. Under the guidance of Archana Gupta, participants were encouraged to experiment with lettering styles, strokes, and creative techniques. The hands-on format of the workshop ensured that participants could actively practise what they learned and express their individual creativity through their work.
Beyond developing artistic skills, the session focused on the importance of concentration, patience and mindfulness. The slow and rhythmic process of calligraphy encouraged participants to remain focused on each stroke and letter, creating a calming experience. At a time when daily routines are increasingly influenced by digital screens, the workshop provided a refreshing opportunity to disconnect, slow down, and engage in a meaningful offline activity.
The event also created a warm and interactive space for participants of different age groups to bond through creativity. Children and adults enjoyed learning together, sharing their work and appreciating each other’s artistic efforts. A friendly calligraphy competition was organized towards the end of the session, adding an element of excitement and encouraging participants to showcase their newly acquired skills with confidence.
The initiative successfully combined learning, creativity, and relaxation, making the experience both productive and enjoyable. With 20 FLO members and around 40 beneficiaries participating, the programme created a positive impact and reached a wider community, with a footprint of 30 and counting. “Bond Over Calligraphy” demonstrated how creative arts can serve not only as a means of self-expression but also as an effective tool for skill development, mindfulness, community bonding, and personal well-being.
