The Young FICCI Ladies Organization (YFLO) Hyderabad has organized a “Zero Waste” initiative, at The Shri Ram Academy in collaboration with “Goodee Bag”. The initiative aimed to foster environmental consciousness and promote sustainable practices among students through a hands-on collection drive. To encourage students to adopt eco-conscious habits and take an active role in building a sustainable future by instilling the values of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Key Highlights
The initiative commenced with the launch of a student-led Zero Waste Club, designed to serve as a platform for ongoing awareness and action. This was followed by a comprehensive collection drive, which ran from Wednesday, September 17, 2025, to Friday, September 19, 2025. The collection drive was an interactive and engaging activity for the students, focusing on common household waste items.

- Old books.
- Newspapers and other paper waste.
- Plastic waste (bottles, wrappers, etc.)
- Student Incentives
To encourage active participation, students received a ₹10 voucher for every 1 kg of books and paper they contributed.
- These vouchers could be redeemed for stationery items at a special stall set up on campus, which provided an immediate and tangible reward for their efforts.
Conclusion
The “Zero Waste” initiative was a great success. It not only resulted in a substantial collection of recyclable materials but also effectively engaged 100 attendees, including students, in a practical and educational experience. The program successfully instilled the importance of responsible waste management and laid the groundwork for a continued focus on sustainability within the school community. This project serves as a replicable model for future collaborations aimed at driving positive environmental change.
