YFLO Hyderabad Chapter has organized a Talk by Mr. G. M. Rao, who spoke on “My Entrepreneurial Journey”, under the Chairpersonship of Mrs. Mourya Boda.
All the members of FLO & YFLO had the opportunity of visiting GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, where they were apprised of various activities being undertaken by the Foundation. GMR Varalakshmi Foundation was set up as an independent, professionally run, company to channelize ever increasing flow of funds for social causes for the benefit of the under-served in society. Today, the Foundation is active in 22 locations in India and Nepal and its 4 areas of activity are education, healthcare, livelihood and community development and it has received wide national recognition for its impact in the sections of society it serves.
Later, Mr. G M Rao addressed the gathering at Novotel Airport Hotel on his “Entrepreneurial Journey”. The interactive session that followed the lecture provided an opportunity to discuss various elements of leadership with the ‘leader’ himself.
G M Rao, hails from Andhra Pradesh and has a distinction of being an entrepreneur who built Rs. 40,000 mn turnover entity with ‘tangible values’.
The GMR Group vision clearly states that it will be an institution in perpetuity that will build entrepreneurial organizations making a difference to society through creation of value. This vision is backed by a set of 7 core values and beliefs which have become a code of conduct for all the employees with an emphasis on ethical and professional behavior.
Mr. G M Rao firmly believes that family must be run like business and business must run like family. This statement of his had a deep impact on the entire family of his.
He his one of the few corporate heads, who has drawn a family constitution, in which the duties and responsibilities of each family member of his is mentioned and this has become a Bible for the entire GMR family.
