For the past few years, FLO Mumbai has been working closely with the tribal communities of Palghar, focusing on better opportunities for women and healthier futures for children. This journey has grown from one meaningful intervention to another. An earlier milestone was the Sev Sanjeevni Medical Equipment Library, where Past Chairperson Aarmeen Mogul Dordi and present Chairperson Seema Saroj came together to support the community — a reminder that lasting change is created when one woman’s vision is carried forward by another.
On 29 September 2026, this journey took another significant step with the inauguration of the Udaan Community Kitchen & Green Kitchen Garden, in partnership with CSR partner Intercont Freight Liners Pvt. Ltd. At the heart of Udaan are 60 tribal women who were guided on nutrition and healthier family diets. Twelve women were trained to prepare nutritious food for children, giving them practical skills while also opening pathways towards livelihood and greater confidence.
With CSR support of ₹13.75 lakh, the Community Kitchen will provide nutritious meals to 70 children through the year. Mothers were also given specially curated Nutrition Kits, while the adjoining Green Kitchen Garden will help women grow fresh, pesticide-free produce for the kitchen — creating a simple yet powerful cycle of women growing, women earning and children thriving.
The initiative was taken forward under the leadership of Seema Saroj, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Mumbai, with Sangeeta Kalwani, Head – Agriculture Vertical, spearheading the Green Kitchen Garden. Special acknowledgement goes to Aarmeen Mogul Dordi for her foundational vision and support in facilitating the CSR partnership.
Udaan is ultimately about women gaining knowledge and confidence, and children receiving the nourishment they need for a healthier future. As this journey in Palghar continues, FICCI FLO Mumbai hopes more FLO women will find their own way to contribute — through time, expertise, networks, or support.
