Threads of the Future: Pattern Intelligence – Fashion Reimagined with AI

FICCI FLO, under the leadership of National President, Ms. Puja Garg, hosted an informative webinar, titled “Threads of the Future: Pattern Intelligence – Fashion Reimagined with AI,” featuring speaker Ms. N. Divya, HOD – Textile Department, Hamstech. This masterclass equipped members with the knowledge and AI tools for textile design and exploring how technology is shaping the future of fashion, textiles, and creative entrepreneurship.

This landmark session bridged the gap between India’s rich textile heritage and the cutting edge of Generative AI. Led by Ms. N. Divya, an industry veteran with 16 years of expertise, the workshop provided a high-octane environment where tradition met technology.

In alignment with FLO’s environmental commitment, a Green Certificate was presented to Ms. Divya, signifying trees planted in her honor via grow-trees.com. The session focused on “Pattern Intelligence,” empowering designers to move from manual drafting to AI-augmented creation without losing the “human soul” of design.

This webinar was held in collaboration between FLO AI & Digital Literacy Initiative, led by Ms. Dekyi Chawla and Ms. Ridhi Jain; and FLO Textile, Handloom, & Handicrafts Initiative, led by Ms. Varuna Anand, and Ambar Pariddi Sahai.

Key Takeaways

  • The Multi-Model Toolkit: Members moved beyond basic AI usage, learning to synchronize ChatGPT, Gemini, and specialized Pattern AI tools to engineer high-fidelity textile motifs and seamless repeats.
  • Visualizing Commercial Assets: The masterclass provided practical, real-world applications. Participants learned to visualize their AI-generated designs directly onto commercial products, including Tote Bags, Jackets, Wallpapers, and Mobile Cases.
  • Design Democratization with Canva: By integrating Canva into the AI workflow, members discovered how to refine, layout, and professionalize their AI outputs into production-ready assets.
  • Heritage meets Hyper-growth: The core message emphasized that AI is not a replacement for the designer, but a “digital brush” that allows for rapid prototyping and unprecedented creative scaling.

Impact & Outcome

Around 120+ participants attended this engaging session, transformed from curious observers to “Digital Architects.” The workshop was intensely interactive; members were not just watching but actively generating prompts and seeing their creative visions materialize in real-time.  In a beautiful fusion of tech and sustainability, the session also honored the spirit of conservation. This served as a reminder that while we embrace the “High-Tech” future, we remain rooted in “High-Touch” responsibility.
