YFLO Hyderabad successfully hosted a highly engaging digital literacy awareness workshop titled “Spot It” at Roots Collegium. Organized under the leadership of YFLO Chairperson Ms. Khushboo Daga for the 2026–2027 tenure, the initiative was designed to address the challenges that digital threats and Artificial Intelligence present to young adults. Held at Roots Collegium—an institution with a 30-year legacy of nurturing critical thinking and academic excellence—the session was made possible through the support of Ms. Neela Chakravarthy and the college faculty.

The Initiative brought together 120 enthusiastic students for an interactive presentation that dismantled complex digital phenomena into understandable concepts. The curriculum covered the distinct legal and social boundaries separating misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation. Attendees were introduced to the “4 Red Flags”—Source, Emotion, Urgency, and Visuals—which serve as immediate indicators of media manipulation.

A major highlight was the “Hands-On Fact-Checking Lab,” which used real-world case studies to demonstrate how easily digitally altered images, fake screenshots, and clickbait headlines can spread. The technical segments delved deep into AI deception, exposing tracking methods for deepfake video and audio syncing, voice cloning scams, and physical anomalies in AI-generated imagery.

To ensure the students walked away with an immediate toolkit, the event featured interactive demonstrations of practical verification techniques, including lateral reading, reverse image searching, and the SIFT/PEAS pause habits. Students were also provided with vital resources, including the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) and verified independent fact-checking tip-lines.

The session concluded with a lively, dedicated Q&A segment. This final open floor allowed the 120 student participants to actively engage with the speaker, clarify doubts about digital safety, discuss personal experiences with online scams, and deliberate on the ethical boundaries of everyday AI usage, ensuring a comprehensive, empowering, and highly educational experience.
