FLO Amritsar, under the leadership of Chairperson Tannya Khanna, organised an industrial visit under its MSME Startup and STEM verticals to The Headscarves Factory (THS), a 100% women-led manufacturing facility led by FLO Executive Committee member Sakshat Seth.
The visit offered members a first-hand understanding of a specialised manufacturing enterprise that has placed women’s comfort, confidence and dignity at the heart of its product journey.
For over fifteen years, THS has been creating specialised headwear for women experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions and treatments. What began as a small, single-room initiative has grown into a 35,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, reflecting the evolution of a focused idea into an established women-led enterprise. During the visit, Chairperson Tannya Khanna and FLO members toured the manufacturing floor and attended a detailed presentation on THS’s journey, products and operations.
Members gained an insight into the processes involved in designing and manufacturing specialised headwear and the importance of understanding the unique needs of the women for whom these products are created. The company’s range includes ISO-certified ,Sedex, PETA ,and UV-protected headwear, developed with a focus on functionality, comfort and protection.
The interaction also explored opportunities for further product innovation, including extended shoulder-coverage designs, highlighting how customer feedback and lived experiences can play an important role in shaping better products.
A significant part of the visit focused on THS’s commitment to sustainability and its zero-waste vision. Soft bamboo and textile waste generated during manufacturing is repurposed into stuffed toys and dog mats, including products that support local shelters. This initiative demonstrates how manufacturing waste can be redirected towards meaningful and practical applications, reflecting the principles of a circular economy.
The visit provided FICCI FLO members with a closer look at a women-led MSME that successfully combines specialised manufacturing, purposeful design, innovation and environmental responsibility. It also created a platform for meaningful interaction and knowledge-sharing around entrepreneurship, product development, customer-centric innovation and sustainable manufacturing.
Through this engagement, FICCI FLO Amritsar celebrated the contribution of women entrepreneurs who are creating businesses with both commercial vision and social purpose. The visit reinforced the importance of supporting women-led enterprises that not only create economic value but also develop thoughtful solutions that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
