The Art of Tablescaping

YFLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Anisha Juneja, hosted The Art of Tablescaping on 2nd September 2026 at Trace Gallery, Kolkata, bringing together 25 members for an immersive session at the intersection of visual arts, design, and creative entrepreneurship. Organised solely by YFLO Kolkata, the programme aligned with its Visual Art and Start-Up Initiatives, highlighting the commercial potential of specialised creative disciplines.

Led by Vaishnavi Lohia, recognised as India’s first tablescaping artist, the session explored the technical and creative aspects of tablescaping, including visual composition, colour theory, material selection, textural balance, spatial arrangement, and product curation. These elements demonstrated how a coherent design concept can be translated into a distinctive, marketable experience. From a start-up perspective, the programme highlighted how niche creative skills can be developed into specialised business offerings across event styling, hospitality, luxury entertaining, décor consultancy, and bespoke tablescaping services.

Such ventures rely on identifying a target audience, defining a distinctive brand identity, developing a clear service portfolio, and creating a consistent visual language that differentiates the business in a competitive market. The session also offered an opportunity to consider the operational aspects of creative entrepreneurship, including sourcing materials, managing design costs, selecting suppliers, pricing customised services, and maintaining quality standards. These considerations are essential to building a commercially viable creative venture while balancing artistic vision with client expectations and business sustainability.

Through the integration of artistic learning and entrepreneurial exposure, the programme encouraged members to recognise how creativity can evolve into a structured business model. It demonstrated the relevance of design-led innovation in developing differentiated products and services, building customer experiences, and creating opportunities within emerging lifestyle and experiential markets.

With 25 members in attendance, The Art of Tablescaping reflected YFLO Kolkata’s commitment to connecting visual creativity with entrepreneurial thinking and exposing members to specialised fields with potential for professional and business development.
