FICCI FLO, under the leadership of 43rd National President Ms. Puja Garg, organized a practical workshop, “Tech Savvy at Any Age: Instagram Made Easy,” with guest speaker Devanshi Seth, Director & Editor, NowLucknow. This is the first session in the three-part Digital Skilling series, and it aimed at teaching the fundamentals of Instagram features and its navigation to participants who are not tech-savvy, especially older FLO members.
Ms. Seth simplified Instagram for beginners by explaining photo and video sharing, messaging, content discovery, news updates, the algorithm, and more. During this Instagram training session, the speaker taught the FLO members about saving, accessing, and sharing reels and posts. Also, she demonstrated how to create different types of content, such as reels, posts, and stories, with the addition of music, text, and stickers.
The guest speaker aimed to boost confidence of participants and provided the best privacy and safety tips to ensure user protection. She emphasized the importance of exploring the Instagram platform through trial and error rather than relying on instruction manuals.
Key Takeaways
- Digital fluency is a core life skill that enables continuous adaptation and active participation in a modern, technology-driven society.
- Instagram has multiple uses, such as connecting with friends and family via DMs, discovering new places, getting the latest news, sharing your own experiences, learning new skills, and pursuing hobbies.
- Its search function allows users to find content like travel recommendations & itineraries, food recipes, restaurant recommendations, fashion tips, and business ideas.
- While writing post captions, make sure to mention what, where, and how you feel.
- The algorithm keeps the audience scrolling by showcasing content that feels relevant, timely and personal.
- Golden rules of safety on Instagram are never sharing confidential and personal information like OTP and passwords. Avoid clicking on suspicious links, and do not accept all friend requests.
- Block or report Instagram accounts that make you feel uncomfortable.
- To ensure privacy, it is wise to update in-app settings and manage who can see or interact with your content. For example: a private Instagram account stops unknown visitors from seeing your posts, reels, or stories and only approved accounts are allowed to engage with your content.

More than 138 attendees joined the insightful Instagram training session and benefited from learning its features and functionality.
