STEM in Action – Training at Promea Pharmaceuticals

FLO Hyderabad, in collaboration with Promea Pharmaceuticals, conducted a two-month placement-linked training program for Bio-Tech students. The program immersed participants in a regulated pharmaceutical environment where they developed laboratory competencies and gained exposure to GMP standards, quality systems, and documentation protocols.

Emphasis was placed on research discipline — the importance of accurate recording, ethical data handling, and reproducibility. Students also developed troubleshooting skills and a deeper understanding of the purpose behind each experimental protocol.

Key Takeaways

– Research discipline and reproducibility matter more than speed

– Interns learn that consistent protocols, clean documentation, and repeatable results are the foundation of credible science, not just getting interesting data.

– Mastery of core lab techniques is essential

– Whether it’s PCR, cell culture, protein assays, or data analysis tools, interns must show competence, safety awareness, and the ability to troubleshoot experiments independently.

– Understanding the “why” behind experiments

– Data integrity and ethical conduct are non‑negotiable – Accurate recording, avoiding bias, reporting deviations, and maintaining sample traceability are critical in any regulated biotech environment.

Impact & Outcome

Around 30 Bio-Tech students were equipped with hands-on pharmaceutical training at Promea Pharmaceuticals over two months, developing their technical proficiency, research discipline, and data integrity practices with direct placement opportunities.
