FLO Amritsar, under the leadership of Chairperson Tannya Khanna, supported the Amritsar Baithak Circle in presenting Sitar & Stillness, an intimate evening of Indian classical music held on 23 August 2026 at Holy City, Amritsar. The evening featured Dr. Sumit Padam on sitar, accompanied by Ajaypal Singh on tabla, bringing together two traditional instruments in a setting designed for close and attentive listening. The Baithak Circle was held in collaboration with Timeless Amritsar, Padma Swar Naad, Swarna Trails, and Melody Home Music.
The event followed the traditional baithak-style format, creating a more personal connection between the artists and the audience. Rather than a conventional stage performance, the intimate setting allowed attendees to experience the nuances of the music up close and engage with the performance in a quiet, unhurried atmosphere.
The evening was centred on the idea of stillness through music. The measured pace of the sitar, the rhythmic accompaniment of the tabla and the intimate surroundings created an environment that encouraged audiences to pause from the demands of everyday life and immerse themselves in the music.
The initiative also served as a platform for celebrating and promoting India’s classical musical heritage. By bringing traditional music into a community setting, the programme encouraged audiences to engage with an art form that carries generations of musical knowledge, discipline and cultural expression.
