Project Udaan was conceptualised and implemented by YFLO as a significant community outreach initiative dedicated to advancing women’s health, dignity, and overall well-being. Recognising that menstrual health remains an essential yet often overlooked component of women’s healthcare, the initiative aimed to address both the practical and social challenges associated with menstruation, particularly among underprivileged women and girls.
As part of the programme, sanitary pads were distributed to 700 beneficiaries, ensuring improved access to essential menstrual hygiene products for women and girls who may otherwise face financial and social barriers in managing their menstrual health. The initiative was designed not merely as a distribution drive, but as a holistic intervention that combined access to resources with education and awareness, thereby promoting long-term behavioural change and informed health practices.
An integral component of Project Udaan was the menstrual health awareness session conducted for participants. The session focused on key aspects of menstrual hygiene management, including the importance of maintaining cleanliness during menstruation, adopting safe menstrual practices, and preventing infections that may arise due to inadequate hygiene. Through informative discussions and interactive engagement, participants gained practical knowledge on managing menstruation in a healthy, safe, and dignified manner.
The initiative also sought to address the deep-rooted stigma, myths, and misconceptions surrounding menstruation that continue to affect women and girls across communities. By creating an open and supportive environment for dialogue, Project Udaan encouraged participants to speak freely about menstrual health concerns, ask questions, and challenge prevailing social taboos. This approach fostered greater confidence, self-esteem, and awareness among beneficiaries.
By integrating menstrual hygiene products with education and community engagement, Project Udaan empowered women and girls to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being. The initiative stands as a reflection of YFLO’s enduring commitment to promoting health equity, strengthening grassroots awareness, and creating sustainable social impact through meaningful interventions that uphold the dignity, confidence, and empowerment of women.
