FLO Bangalore’s the FLO Literary Circle successfully hosted its first book discussion meet for Persepolis at Sattvam Restaurant in a warm, engaging and intellectually enriching setting. Persepolis is a powerful autobiographical graphic memoir by Marjane Satrapi that chronicles her childhood and early adult years during and after the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Through a deeply personal lens, the book explores themes of identity, freedom, rebellion, war and cultural conflict as Marjane navigates growing up in a politically turbulent society.
Balancing moments of humour, resilience and heartbreak, Persepolis offers an intimate portrayal of how political upheaval impacts ordinary lives, while also highlighting the universal struggles of self-discovery, belonging and the search for personal freedom. The session was moderated by Divya Purnaiya, whose engaging facilitation encouraged active participation and insightful dialogue among members. The gathering was graced by the presence of FLO Chairperson Deepa Reddy and Past Chairperson Lakshmi Eshwar, whose encouragement and support added immense value to the occasion.
A special highlight of the event was the gracious hospitality extended by fellow FLO member Minakshi Gupta and Team Sattvam, the hosting sponsors for the meet. The elegant ambience, mindful hospitality and soulful vegetarian cuisine beautifully complemented the spirit of the Literary Circle. The Literary Circle also extends sincere appreciation to fellow member Ranjana Raju and Nova for sponsoring the gift for the event.
