Old Gold, New Story – Creating Fresh Designs from Cherished Jewelry

FLO Pune, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Poonam Kochhar, hosted “Old Gold, New Story – Creating Fresh Designs from Cherished Jewelry,” at The Poona Club LTD, Bund Garden Road, Pune. The event focused on showcasing the transformation of treasured heirloom jewellery into elegant, contemporary pieces while preserving its sentimental value, heritage, and emotional significance.

As part of the For the Member, By the Member initiative, the event explored the possibilities of transforming treasured heirloom jewellery into contemporary, wearable designs. The session focused on the idea of giving old and sentimental jewellery a new lease of life while retaining its emotional significance and heritage. Members were introduced to the process of redesigning and remaking existing jewellery into pieces that reflect modern aesthetics, personal preferences, and individual style.

The session featured FLO Pune member, Shweta Dhoot, Founder of Jewher, a Certified Master Diamond Grader and Bespoke Jewellery Designer. Drawing from her expertise and experience, Shweta shared her personal journey and valuable insights into the art of jewellery transformation, including how cherished pieces can be thoughtfully reimagined without losing the memories and stories associated with them.

The discussion highlighted how heirloom jewellery need not remain confined to traditional designs or stored away. With thoughtful redesign, old gold and jewellery can be transformed into elegant, contemporary creations that continue to be worn and appreciated across generations.

The session offered members an inspiring perspective on sustainability, personal expression, and the emotional value of jewellery, demonstrating that a cherished piece can evolve with time while continuing to tell its original story.

Around 65 members participated in the Old Gold, New Story event. It reinforced the idea that jewellery carries more than material value—it carries memories, relationships, and stories. Thoughtful redesign allows these stories to continue in a contemporary form, creating jewellery that is both meaningful and timeless.
