FLO Bengaluru’s Social Impact Circle inaugurated the newly refurbished kitchen at Oceanik College on 19th September 2026, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to create meaningful opportunities for students through practical education and life-skill development. The initiative was undertaken with the support of Mr. Amit Roy and Mrs. Chaitali Roy, who sponsored ₹2 lakh towards the refurbishment.
The inauguration was attended by Deepa Reddy, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Bengaluru, along with Neelam Agarwal, Social Impact Vertical Head, and members of the Social Impact Team—Sakshi Ram Chandnani, Shilpa Giria, Dr. Vibha Shetty, and Bharti Maheshwari. The ceremony commenced with the ribbon-cutting and a prayer and blessing for the new facility. The refurbished kitchen has been designed as a fully functional, safe, and student-friendly space where approximately 200 students can gain hands-on exposure to cooking, nutrition, hygiene, hospitality, and essential everyday skills.
The initiative goes beyond creating a physical infrastructure facility. The kitchen is envisioned as a practical learning environment that can help students develop confidence, self-reliance, responsibility, and a greater sense of independence. By learning to prepare food, understand nutrition, maintain hygiene, and participate in hospitality-related activities, students are given skills that can contribute meaningfully to their personal development and future opportunities.
The inauguration was also a moment of collective celebration, with students and staff expressing joy and enthusiasm at the completion of the kitchen. The ceremony concluded with tea and snacks prepared in the newly refurbished kitchen, providing a fitting first glimpse of the facility’s intended purpose and impact.
The Oceanik Kitchen initiative reflects FICCI FLO Bengaluru’s belief that social impact is not limited to providing resources, but is about creating enabling environments that promote dignity, inclusion, confidence, and long-term independence. By transforming a basic facility into a space for experiential learning, the project aims to leave a sustainable and meaningful impact on the students and the wider Oceanik College community.
