Not Just A Film, A Mirror.

FLO Indore Hosted a screening of the film – “Assi” with Taapsee Pannu, Kani Kusruti, and Director Anubhav Sinha. Reaffirming its dedication to empowering women and sparking meaningful dialogues on gender equality and safety, FLO Indore organized an exclusive and highly impactful screening of the much-anticipated Hindi film Assi directed by acclaimed filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and starring powerhouse performers – Taapsee Pannu and Kani Kusruti.

Assi – titled after the stark statistic of around 80 reported rapes daily in India (one every 20 minutes) – serves as a raw, unflinching mirror to society's failures in protecting women and delivering true justice. The event drew a full house of approximately 300 enthusiastic members, who were deeply moved by the film’s hard-hitting portrayal and the urgent need for societal reform.

The hall erupted in applause, with members praising Sinha's masterful capture of harsh realities and the exceptional performances by Taapsee Pannu and Kani Kusruti. The screening was followed by an engaging interactive session, where members asked thoughtful questions about the film’s personal and societal impact. Director, Anubhav Sinha emphasized the critical role of cinema in driving change.

He said, “It is important to make movies on these subjects because people often don’t realize their importance. Films can bring real change in society. He, along with the cast, highlighted the vital importance of parenting – raising children who inherently respect women, understand consent, and challenge harmful norms from an early age.

They also addressed the deep impact, women endures in the aftermath of assault, noting that jail terms or even capital punishment alone are insufficient without deeper systemic and cultural shifts to prevent such crimes and support survivors.

Chairperson, FLO Indore, CA Shweta Agrawal extended heartfelt thanks to the esteemed guests for gracing the event. She urged the filmmakers to continue creating bold, perspective-shifting cinema. Addressing the members, she reinforced a powerful message – Be strong. Stay safe.
