FLO Mumbai Chairperson, Ms. Seema Saroj, had the privilege of participating as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the Mega Job Fair hosted by SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. She addressed the gathering on the importance of industry-academia collaboration, women’s workforce participation, and preparing young women for the future of work.
Led by Prof. (Dr.) Ujwala Chakradeo – Vice Chancellor, SNDT Women’s University; Shoko Ishikawa, UN Women; and Upasana Sharma, Industry Representative, the event brought together academia, industry, and development organizations with a shared vision of creating greater employment opportunities for young women.
The Mega Job Fair featured 63 leading companies, providing students and graduates with access to diverse career opportunities across multiple sectors. More than 800 young women attended the event, engaging directly with recruiters, participating in interviews, and exploring career pathways aligned with their aspirations and skills.
One of the most significant outcomes of the initiative was that over 300 young women secured employment opportunities, marking an important milestone in their professional journeys and reinforcing the value of sustained collaboration between educational institutions and industry. During interactions with the students, it was evident that today’s young women are ambitious, confident, and eager to contribute to India’s rapidly evolving economy.
The discussions emphasized the growing importance of industry exposure, mentorship, digital skills, and continuous learning in preparing graduates for an AI-driven and technology-enabled future. The event highlighted the critical role of partnerships between universities, employers, and organizations such as FICCI FLO Mumbai in creating inclusive opportunities that empower women through employment and economic independence.
