FLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Mansi Agarwal, organised the Mahjong Learning Table, a thoughtfully curated three-day experiential programme that seamlessly blended cognitive wellness, peer-led learning, and meaningful community engagement. Conceptualised as a member-driven initiative, the programme transformed a recreational activity into a platform for intellectual stimulation, strategic thinking, and interpersonal connection.
Held under its Health & Wellness, Life Skills Initiative, experienced FLO committee members facilitated specialised learning sessions for members, fostering a culture of peer mentorship, knowledge transfer, and collaborative leadership. The initiative celebrated the strength of shared expertise and reinforced the value of learning within a supportive and dynamic community.
Over the course of three engaging days, participants explored multiple formats of Mahjong, including Basic Mahjong, Mahjong Gita, and American Mahjong. Through immersive gameplay and guided instruction, attendees developed a deeper understanding of pattern recognition, probability assessment, strategic planning, and decision-making. The sessions encouraged participants to exercise concentration, memory retention, adaptability, and analytical reasoning while engaging in an intellectually rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Beyond its cognitive dimensions, the programme emerged as a powerful networking and relationship-building platform. The collaborative nature of the learning tables encouraged meaningful interactions among members, creating opportunities for dialogue, mentorship, and camaraderie. Participants connected through shared experiences, exchanged perspectives, and strengthened the bonds that define the FLO community.
The initiative also underscored the growing significance of recreational wellness as an integral component of holistic development. By promoting a mindful, screen-free activity that demands focus, patience, and strategic thought, the programme provided 55 participants with an opportunity to disconnect from routine pressures while engaging in purposeful learning.
Through this distinctive member-led initiative, FLO Kolkata successfully demonstrated how internal expertise can be harnessed to create high-value learning experiences that enrich cognitive wellness, strengthen social capital, and cultivate lifelong learning. The programme stands as a testament to the chapter’s commitment to fostering vibrant communities where women inspire, empower, and learn from one another while collectively advancing personal and professional growth.
