FLO Mumbai, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Seema Saroj, organized The Kitchen Pharmacy workshop at Roovedaa. It was a hands-on experience designed to bring the traditional wisdom of Ayurveda into everyday living. Building on the concept of cultivating healing plants at home, participants explored how commonly used spices, herbs, and kitchen ingredients can form an accessible part of daily wellness practices. The session was led by experts, Vaidya Satyajit Kadkol, founder of Sadaika Healthcare, and Dr. Paritosh Bhatt, an Ayurvedic Physician with an M.D. in Rasa Shastra.
A key highlight was an interactive sensory tasting session, where participants experienced the six classical Ayurvedic tastes—sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent. The exercise encouraged participants to consciously observe their individual taste preferences and cravings.
The Vaidyas then explained the traditional Ayurvedic significance associated with the different tastes and their relationship with the body’s constitution and Doshas—Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Participants were guided to understand how taste preferences can be viewed within the Ayurvedic framework and how different ingredients may be incorporated into everyday routines.
The session also provided practical guidance on using targeted kitchen ingredients as part of traditional wellness practices, with discussions around digestion, immunity, and overall vitality.
The workshop successfully connected the Kitchen Garden initiative with practical application, taking participants from growing healing plants at home to understanding how these ingredients can be incorporated into everyday life.
