FLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Mansi Agarwal, conducted an Introductory Canva Session at the Apni Kutir Chetla Centre on 21 September 2026, with 60 participants. The session formed part of FLO Kolkata’s broader STEM, AI & Digital Literacy initiative and focused on introducing participants to Canva as an accessible digital tool for visual communication, promotion and branding.
The session began by familiarising participants with the basic features and functions of Canva. The objective was to establish a foundational understanding of the platform and demonstrate how it could be used to create visually engaging digital content without requiring advanced design expertise.
A central component of the session was the creation of social-media posts and promotional materials. Participants were introduced to the practical application of Canva in developing content that can be used for communication and visibility across digital platforms.
The programme also placed particular emphasis on the relevance of Canva for business promotion, marketing and digital branding.
This was especially significant from an enterprise-development perspective, as accessible digital tools can enable emerging entrepreneurs and small-business owners to create their own promotional material and communicate their products or services more effectively. The session therefore connected basic digital literacy with a practical aspect of enterprise visibility. Rather than treating Canva solely as a creative design platform, participants were introduced to its potential as a business-enablement tool, particularly for individuals who may need to independently create promotional content for their enterprises.
The training also encouraged participants to become more comfortable with digital tools and explore their practical applications. By introducing a relatively accessible platform through a structured session, the programme contributed to strengthening participants’ digital confidence and readiness. The 60 participants gained an introductory understanding of Canva and its potential applications for both personal and business-related communication. The session concluded with participants having greater familiarity with the platform and an understanding of how it could be used to support digital promotion, marketing and branding.
Overall, the session represented a practical step towards strengthening digital capabilities at the grassroots level, while demonstrating how simple technology-enabled tools can support communication, enterprise visibility and independent business promotion.
