India to the World: Simplifying Export Readiness for MSMEs

FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Amulya Rao, organized the programme “India to the World: Simplifying Export Readiness for MSMEs” under its Export Vertical initiative on 6th May 2026 at Azure, The Oceanic Chennai. The programme witnessed active participation from women entrepreneurs, MSME business owners, and aspiring exporters interested in understanding international business opportunities and global market readiness.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the FLO Chennai leadership, followed by a context-setting session by Dr. Geetha Premkumar, Export Vertical Head, who emphasized the importance of women entrepreneurs gradually shifting from a domestic business mindset towards global business thinking. She highlighted that the initiative aimed not only to encourage exports but also to build awareness, preparedness, and confidence among MSMEs to explore international opportunities strategically.

The first technical session, titled “Thinking Beyond Borders: Export Mindset & India’s Global Imperatives,” was delivered by Mr. Sundararaman Krishnamoorthy. He discussed how changing global supply chains, digital infrastructure, and niche specialization are creating new opportunities for Indian MSMEs in international markets. He addressed common misconceptions surrounding exports and highlighted how agility, innovation, and strategic positioning are increasingly valued globally. The session also covered India’s export growth ambitions, opportunities for women-led MSMEs, operational challenges, branding risks, and practical approaches to mitigation.

The second session, “Introduction to Exports – An MSME Perspective,” by Mr. Senthil Kumaran Visva Lingam, provided participants with practical exposure to export operations and business processes. He explained export documentation, logistics management, payment systems, INCOTERMS, government support mechanisms, market identification, and the importance of quality consistency and scalability. He also emphasized the value of networking, trade exhibitions, certifications, and digital visibility in building sustainable international business relationships.

The programme concluded with an engaging interactive Q&A session where participants discussed practical challenges, export opportunities, and business readiness with both speakers.
