As part of its commitment to promoting STEM education and empowering young girls through access to technology and innovation, FLO Indore organised a one-day exposure visit to the Apex Institute of the Country, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore for over 50 girls from Government Girls’ Sharda Niketan School, Indore.
The visit was organised as a follow-up to FLO Indore’s 15-day Robotics Training Programme, designed to introduce students to emerging technologies and encourage scientific curiosity, logical thinking and problem-solving skills. The exposure visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world technological advancement by providing students with an opportunity to experience the academic environment of one of India’s premier technical institutions.
During the visit, the girls were introduced to the IIT campus and gained insights into its academic culture, teaching methodologies and approach to scientific inquiry. Interactions with faculty members offered the students an opportunity to understand how science, engineering and technology can translate into meaningful careers and innovative solutions.
The students participated enthusiastically, asked questions and explored possibilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The experience helped broaden their horizons, build confidence and encourage them to aspire to higher education and careers in emerging technology fields.
FLO members accompanied the students and supported the initiative, while a member facilitated transportation arrangements. Teachers from Government Girls’ Sharda Niketan School also accompanied the group, ensuring the students’ participation and well-being throughout the visit.
The initiative reflects FICCI FLO Indore’s continued efforts to make quality STEM exposure accessible to girls from government schools, particularly those who may otherwise have limited opportunities to experience advanced technological learning environments. By combining hands-on robotics training with exposure to a premier institution like IIT Indore, FLO Indore seeks to nurture the next generation of women innovators, engineers and technology leaders.
From learning robotics to envisioning a future in innovation, this initiative represents a meaningful step towards empowering young girls and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
