FLO Kolkata conducted a Health Check-up & Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp at the FLO Kolkata Skilling Centre, Chetla, as part of its Health & Wellness Initiative. The camp benefited 55 women, providing them with access to a professional health consultation in an accessible community setting. Dr. Parveen, Gynaecologist, conducted the health check-ups with the support of a nurse, creating an opportunity for participants to seek appropriate medical guidance and discuss their health concerns.
An important component of the initiative was the focus on personal and menstrual hygiene. During the camp, 60 sanitary napkins were distributed among the women. The distribution was accompanied by an informative interaction led by the medical team, who discussed basic personal and menstrual hygiene practices and emphasised the importance of maintaining good hygiene as part of overall women’s health.
The initiative was designed to extend beyond a routine health check-up by combining medical attention with meaningful health education. The interaction encouraged participants to be more conscious of their health, recognise concerns that may require professional attention, and adopt informed hygiene practices in their daily lives.
By bringing a gynaecologist and nursing support directly to a community-based centre, FLO Kolkata created a more approachable platform for women to access healthcare and engage in conversations around women’s health. Such interventions are particularly valuable in strengthening preventive healthcare awareness and encouraging women to seek medical advice without hesitation.
The camp reflected FLO Kolkata’s continued commitment to accessible, women-centric and preventive healthcare, with an emphasis on dignity, awareness and informed decision-making. By integrating medical consultation, menstrual hygiene education and the distribution of essential sanitary products, the initiative addressed multiple dimensions of women’s health within a single community intervention.
