FLO Kanpur organised “Girls Just Wanna Have Funds – Book Launch & Financial Literacy Session” on 10th August 2026, with the objective of encouraging women to become more financially aware, confident and independent. The event brought together members for an engaging and practical session focused on understanding money, investments, financial planning, and long-term wealth creation.
The session featured Dr. Aarti Gupta, Author, Speaker and Past Chairperson of FICCI FLO Kanpur, as the special speaker. Her insights highlighted the importance of women taking ownership of their finances and making informed decisions about their financial future. A special highlight of the event was the launch of Dr. Gupta’s book, “I Am My Own Laxmi.” The book launch became a memorable FLO moment as Past Chairpersons of FICCI FLO Kanpur came together to celebrate and formally launch the book, reflecting the collective spirit and continued commitment towards women’s empowerment.
Adding a strong practical dimension to the programme, members participated in a hands-on investing session. Participants were guided through the process of downloading and setting up the Groww app and were introduced to the basic steps involved in beginning their investment journey. The interactive approach helped make investing more accessible and encouraged members to overcome hesitation around financial decision-making.
Worksheets were also provided to enable participants to assess their personal wealth, understand their current financial position, and identify areas for better financial planning. The exercise encouraged members to look beyond immediate financial needs and think strategically about their long-term goals, savings, investments and financial security.
The event reinforced the message that financial literacy is an essential component of empowerment. It encouraged women to start early, make informed choices and develop a positive mindset towards wealth creation. By combining knowledge, practical tools and inspiration, the programme aimed to strengthen financial confidence and promote greater financial independence among women.
The event witnessed participation from 135 members, with 150 beneficiaries and a footprint of 150, making it a meaningful initiative under the Financial Literacy and women’s empowerment agenda of FICCI FLO Kanpur.
