FLO Green Horizons – Waste Wise: Think Circular, Act Sustainable was a targeted environmental awareness program organized by FICCI FLO Uttarakhand on July 22, 2026, at the B. S. Negi Women’s Polytechnic in Dehradun to drive community-led environmental conservation. Executed under the chapter’s Greentech, Circular Economy, and Performing Arts verticals under the leadership of Chairperson Tripti Behl, the program highlighted that segregation at source is climate action, explaining that mixing wet and dry waste leads to anaerobic decomposition and harmful methane generation.
To counter this, environmental experts from Waste Warriors trained the audience on the 4R principles—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover—stressing the need to cut down consumption, reuse items, and reintroduce materials like glass and aluminum into the circular economy. Participants learned to know their waste by correctly classifying it into wet, dry, sanitary, and hazardous categories for appropriate disposal, shifting the perspective to view waste as a valuable resource rather than mere refuse.
To make these complex ecological concepts easily digestible, traditional artist Shri Ram Lal integrated a highly creative puppetry performance that inspired the audience to adopt sustainable practices. Centered around the core message, “Wet waste is made by God; dry waste is made by man,” the session empowered the 150+ students and 15 faculty members in attendance to become sustainability ambassadors, pledging to drive behavioural change by carrying the vital habit of source segregation back into their own homes and communities.
