Financial Literacy Initiative and Life Skills

FLO Chennai, under the leadership of its Chairperson Dr. Amulya Rao, organised a Financial Literacy and Life Skills Initiative for 240 students preparing to enter the workforce, in collaboration with the Wellness and Life Skills Vertical of FICCI FLO Chennai. The initiative aimed to equip students with essential financial knowledge and encourage them to develop sound money management and investment habits early in life. It emphasised the importance of starting small, investing consistently and making informed financial decisions to build long-term financial security.

The session was led by Ms. Kamala Ramakrishnan, Head of the Financial Literacy Vertical at FLO Chennai, and Mr. Satyanarayan Yanmantram, Partner, Sri Krishna Capital, Chennai, who brings extensive experience in financial services, including 11 years of professional exposure in Bahrain. Through practical examples and relatable insights, Mr. Yanmantram introduced students to various investment avenues, including Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), Systematic Withdrawal Plans (SWPs), mutual funds, stocks and shares, gold and land.

He explained the fundamentals of wealth creation, the power of compounding and the importance of disciplined investing in achieving long-term financial goals. The discussion also highlighted that financial literacy is an essential life skill, enabling young individuals to make responsible financial choices as they transition into professional life.
