Financial Literacy for the Workforce of GoGo International

FLO Bangalore, under the leadership of Dr. Deepa Boopesh Reddy, organised a Financial Literacy Workshop for the workforce of GoGo International on 5 September 2026, with the objective of strengthening financial awareness and equipping participants with practical knowledge to make informed decisions about savings, investments, and personal financial planning.

The workshop focused on the importance of developing a regular savings habit and understanding the fundamentals of financial management. Ms. Sudha Raju from the General Post Office (GPO) engaged participants on the significance of saving consistently and explained how the power of compounding can support long-term wealth creation and financial security. She encouraged participants to make informed investment decisions based on their financial goals and to develop greater awareness of different financial options.

An important part of the session focused on responsible borrowing and debt management. Participants were made aware of the potential risks associated with excessive borrowing, loan traps, and unplanned debt. Practical guidance was shared on managing finances responsibly and avoiding financial arrangements that could lead to long-term financial stress. The workshop also featured Mr. Mahesha from the General Post Office (GPO), who introduced participants to various Post Office savings schemes and account options.

He explained the features, benefits, insurance coverage, and long-term advantages associated with these schemes. The session provided participants with information on structured savings avenues and encouraged them to consider secure, government-backed options for their financial planning. Importantly, the initiative moved beyond awareness to facilitate practical financial action.

The GPO representative assisted participants in opening Post Office accounts, enabling members of the workforce to take a concrete step towards developing structured savings habits. The workshop created an accessible platform for participants to discuss financial concerns, understand savings options, and build confidence in managing their money. It reinforced the importance of financial literacy as an essential life skill, particularly for working individuals seeking greater financial stability for themselves and their families.

With 1,000 beneficiaries and 250 members, the initiative contributed to building awareness around responsible financial behaviour, disciplined savings and informed financial decision-making. The programme also demonstrated the value of collaboration between social-impact initiatives and public financial institutions in taking financial literacy closer to the workforce.
