FLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Mansi Agarwal, organized a Financial Literacy & Banking Awareness Session in collaboration with the Bandhan Bank team for 50 community members at the FLO Skilling Centre, Apni Kutir, Chetla, on 11 September 2026. The session was structured as a practical and interactive introduction to banking services, digital financial tools, and basic financial safety for women.
The programme began with an orientation to the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and the relevance of accessible banking services. Participants were introduced to the concept of zero-balance bank accounts and were guided on their benefits, eligibility, and the process involved in opening such accounts. The Bandhan Bank team explained the documentation required, helping students understand the practical steps involved in accessing formal banking facilities.
The session went beyond general awareness and addressed the operational aspects of banking. Participants received guidance on bank account activation and RuPay card activation, with the banking team offering support wherever assistance was required. This practical component enabled the students to connect the information shared during the session with their own banking requirements.
Digital financial services formed another important part of the discussion. The students were introduced to UPI and digital banking, with the interaction highlighting the growing relevance of digital modes of financial transactions. Alongside the convenience of digital banking, the session also placed emphasis on financial fraud awareness, encouraging participants to remain vigilant and adopt safe practices while using digital financial services.
The engagement remained highly participatory throughout. Students actively raised questions and clarified their doubts through a detailed question-and-answer interaction with the Bandhan Bank team. The open discussion allowed participants to seek clarification on account opening, activation, digital banking, and other practical banking-related concerns.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A. The Bandhan Bank team reiterated its support for account opening and activation wherever required, providing participants with a practical point of assistance beyond the awareness session itself.
