FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Amulya Rao, successfully conducted a Fabric Painting Workshop for 65 children at Seva Chakram Children’s Home, Choolai, on 18th January 2026. The one-hour session was thoughtfully designed to combine creativity, learning, and personal development, offering children an opportunity to explore a new skill in a fun and engaging environment.
The workshop introduced participants to the art of fabric painting, allowing them to express their creativity while developing practical artistic skills. Each child was provided with a tote bag and painting materials, which they used to create their own unique designs. The activity encouraged imagination, concentration, and self-expression, enabling the children to transform a simple tote bag into a personalized piece of artwork.
Art plays a significant role in supporting emotional and mental well-being, particularly among children. The workshop provided a joyful and therapeutic space where participants could relax, interact with one another, and take pride in their creative efforts. The enthusiasm and excitement displayed by the children throughout the session reflected the positive impact of the activity. Their sense of accomplishment upon completing their designs was both inspiring and rewarding to witness.
In addition to being a creative exercise, the workshop highlighted the value of skill development and capacity building. Fabric painting is a practical craft that can be nurtured into a vocational skill, creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and income generation in the future. Through this initiative, FICCI FLO Chennai reinforced its commitment to empowering young minds by introducing them to skills that can contribute to their personal and professional growth. The event was made possible through the enthusiastic participation of FICCI FLO members and the dedicated efforts of Happy Brushes by Soni.
Their support, encouragement, and guidance ensured that the children enjoyed a memorable and meaningful experience. The workshop concluded on a cheerful note, leaving the children with not only beautifully painted tote bags but also enhanced confidence, valuable skills, and lasting memories. The initiative successfully demonstrated the transformative power of creativity, learning, and community engagement.
