Eye Health Check-Up & Awareness Camp

FLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Mansi Agarwal, in association with Mahavir Seva Sadan and supported by Emami Foundation, launched a large-scale Eye Health & Awareness Camp focused on delivering free and accessible healthcare support to underserved women and girls across grassroots communities.

The month-long initiative commenced on 13th May 2026 at the FLO Skilling Centre – Apni Kutir, Chetla, and is being conducted across four locations in Kolkata and the Sundarbans, three days a week. Designed as a significant community healthcare outreach initiative, the program aims to benefit thousands of women through comprehensive eye screenings, consultations, preventive healthcare awareness, and medical guidance — entirely free of cost.

Held under the Health and Wellness advocacy initiative, the camp was conceptualised recognising that women, particularly from economically vulnerable and underserved communities, often neglect their own healthcare needs while prioritising familial responsibilities. Limited awareness, lack of accessibility, and financial constraints frequently delay timely diagnosis and treatment of vision-related concerns, directly impacting women’s health, livelihood, confidence, and quality of life.

Through this impactful initiative, women are being provided with professional eye examinations and sensitised about the importance of preventive healthcare, eye hygiene, early diagnosis, and regular vision assessments. The camp further seeks to create long-term awareness around healthcare accessibility and encourage women to prioritise personal well-being without hesitation or financial burden.

Impact & Outcome

Approximately 1,200–1,500 women and girls across Kolkata and the Sundarbans were impacted through month-long multi-location free healthcare camps. The inaugural camp at Apni Kutir witnessed encouraging participation from nearly 100 women from the local community, reflecting the urgent need for accessible grassroots healthcare interventions. The dedicated medical team from Mahavir Seva Sadan created a supportive and inclusive healthcare environment, enabling beneficiaries to comfortably seek consultations and medical guidance.

Supported by Emami Foundation, the initiative represents a meaningful convergence of corporate social responsibility, healthcare accessibility, and women-led community empowerment. Beyond medical support, the program stands as a compassionate effort towards restoring dignity, confidence, and healthier living among women at the grassroots level.

Through this sustained outreach initiative, FLO Kolkata continues to strengthen its vision of fostering inclusive wellness, preventive healthcare awareness, and transformative community impact across urban, semi-urban, and rural regions.
