Event with Anuradha Koirala

FLO Kolkata organized a very special program with Ms. Anuradha Koirala, Founder of Maiti Nepal – who has been tirelessly working to eradicate trafficking and prostitution in Nepal. Ms. Koirala explained that Maiti meaning “Maika”, a Mother’s home for the daughters, was officially founded in 1993, as a rehabilitation centre for the victims of abuse and trafficking. She explained that “Prostitution” was surrounded by illegal, abusive and dangerous activities such as human trafficking, sexual slavery and sexual exploitation of children from the age of seven years. In 2010, she was given the CNN Hero of the Year Award. Over the years she has received many other awards / recognitions for her services to the society.
