FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Amulya Rao, organized an insightful and empowering session for its members, “Ethics, Data Protection and Legal Framework for Startups,” at Pullman Hotel, Anna Salai, Chennai. This AI Governance Conference was designed to serve as a strategic platform to translate global frameworks on artificial intelligence into actionable regional and national roadmaps.
Jointly organized by Deccan Centre for International Relations, Dhirubhai Ambani University – School of Law, and IITM Pravartak, with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the conference brought together stakeholders from across sectors to deliberate on the evolving landscape of AI governance. The event aimed to bring together diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, legal experts, technologists, academia, and startups, to address emerging challenges in AI governance.
The conference focused on translating global AI frameworks into actionable regional strategies, addressing challenges such as data governance, bias, accountability, and sustainability. Through thematic panel discussions on sovereign AI, legal and regulatory frameworks, and inclusive governance models, the event enabled meaningful dialogue at the intersection of technology, law, and policy.
It also emphasized the need for collaborative, human-centric approaches to ensure responsible AI development while strengthening institutional capacity and fostering innovation within a rapidly evolving digital ecosystem. A key objective was to deliberate on critical aspects such as ethical AI deployment, data protection, regulatory frameworks, and accountability mechanisms. The conference also focused on strengthening institutional and stakeholder capacity to operationalise responsible AI across sectors.
