FLO Chennai, led by Chairperson Dr. Divya Abhishek, participated in the Faculty Development Programme at MGR Janaki College of Arts & Science for Women. The session had an attendance of around 350 people. Ms. Geetha Premkumar, MSME Assist Vertical Head, addressed 120 faculty members from both the day and evening colleges on “Educator as Change Maker – Nurturing Emotional Strength and Career Readiness.”
The session discussed the evolving role of educators in shaping students’ futures beyond academics. Ms. Geetha Premkumar emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence in teaching, helping faculty understand how to foster resilience and confidence in students. She spoke about guiding students through personal and professional challenges, especially in handling sensitive issues like sexual abuse, mental health struggles, and self-doubt. She also discussed strategies for motivating students to explore entrepreneurship, think innovatively, and develop employability skills relevant to today’s competitive job market.
The session included real-life case studies, interactive discussions, and practical approaches to help faculty identify students’ strengths and weaknesses, encourage critical thinking, and build an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
