YFLO Kolkata successfully organised the Learn Smart & Safe – Community Financial & Digital Literacy Initiative, a meaningful philanthropic outreach programme conducted under its Financial Literacy and Digital Literacy initiatives. Held at Dakshini Prayas, Kolkata, the initiative comprised two dedicated community workshops on 18th May and 29th June 2026, conducted in collaboration with Dakshini Prayas and supported by Dhanvesttor.
Designed to strengthen financial awareness among women at the grassroots, the initiative focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge required to confidently navigate the rapidly expanding digital financial landscape. The workshops addressed essential topics including safe digital payment practices, online banking, secure use of UPI platforms, cyber hygiene, fraud prevention, and responsible financial decision-making. Rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction, the sessions encouraged active participation through open discussions, practical examples, and real-life scenarios that made financial concepts easy to understand and immediately applicable.
One of the defining strengths of the initiative was its highly interactive format. Participants enthusiastically shared personal experiences, raised thoughtful questions, and discussed the challenges they encountered while using digital financial services. Every conversation became an opportunity to build confidence, dispel misconceptions, and promote informed financial behaviour. The workshops fostered an atmosphere of trust and learning, empowering women to become more discerning users of digital financial platforms while protecting themselves from fraudulent practices.
Beyond enhancing financial knowledge, the initiative reflected YFLO Kolkata’s broader commitment to community development through education and social impact. By extending financial literacy beyond its membership and investing in grassroots capacity building, the chapter demonstrated how purposeful outreach can contribute to greater financial inclusion and digital empowerment.
Collectively reaching 150 women, the initiative created a measurable social impact by strengthening financial confidence, encouraging safer digital practices, and inspiring participants to make informed financial decisions for themselves and their families. Through sustained community engagement and meaningful partnerships, YFLO Kolkata continues to champion initiatives that empower women with knowledge, confidence, and the tools required to build financially secure futures.
