Drone Remote Pilot Training Workshop – She Flies Initiative

The Drone Remote Pilot Training Workshop – She Flies Initiative was a specialised skilling programme conducted by the FICCI FLO Bengaluru Chapter’s Social Impact Circle in collaboration with the National AI & Digital Skilling team and Neosky. Held at Neosky, Kasturi Nagar, Bengaluru, the programme represented the successful completion of the seventh batch of drone training sessions conducted from 10 to 17 August 2026.

The initiative was designed to enable young women to access future-ready careers in the rapidly expanding drone, aviation, AI, and digital-technology ecosystem. Students from Government Polytechnic for Women, NMKRV College, and Vivekananda College participated in the intensive training programme. A total of 29 women completed the course, creating a new pool of skilled and certified drone operators prepared for industry opportunities.

The seven-day programme followed a practical and structured learning format, combining theory sessions, flight simulation, and extensive hands-on training. Participants were introduced to drone assembly, hardware maintenance, flight mechanics, operational procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance. The curriculum also covered payload handling, GIS mapping, spatial data analysis, and the practical application of drones across multiple sectors.

Beyond technical instruction, the programme focused on strengthening confidence, leadership, decision-making, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills.

Participants received opportunities to operate drones under guided supervision, helping them gain real-world familiarity with flight controls and responsible drone operations. This practical exposure was essential in building their readiness for professional deployment. The She Flies Initiative addressed the underrepresentation of women in aviation and technical fields by creating direct access to specialised skills, mentorship, and career pathways.

The programme enables participants to explore employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in precision agriculture, infrastructure and land surveying, aerial mapping, disaster management, emergency response, logistics, and other drone-enabled services. The workshop was supported by NCTI LLP and Confab, which together contributed sponsorship support of ₹2,99,000. The programme brought together leaders including Dekyi Chawla, Deepa Reddy, Rupa Bajaj, Henna Kalro, Neelam Agarwal, and Sakshi Ram Chandnani, reflecting a collective commitment to inclusive innovation and women’s economic empowerment.

Impact & Outcome

Around 29 women drone operators completed the seventh batch of the drone pilot training programme. Also, 2 FLO members and 25 beneficiaries were involved in this programme, and it achieved a community footprint of 12,000 individuals.

By combining technical skilling with practical flight experience, the programme has strengthened Bengaluru’s women-led STEM talent pipeline. It demonstrates how targeted industry partnerships can help women enter high-growth technology sectors and contribute meaningfully to innovation, community development, and India’s evolving drone economy.
