Ask a room full of accomplished women to dance unrehearsed in front of one another, and the hesitation can reveal something deeper than a lack of ability. That familiar “I can’t do this” often has less to do with capability and more to do with self-consciousness — and it was precisely this barrier that FLO Lucknow’s movement workshop sought to dissolve.
Two Days of Movement and Expression
Led by Sohum Deb, Dance Artist, the two-day workshop brought together 45+ members at Anytime Fitness, Madan Mohan Malviya Marg. The sessions focused less on technique and more on creating a space where members could move freely, express themselves, and let go of the pressure to perform perfectly.
The objective was never to create polished dancers. Instead, the workshop offered members an opportunity to experience the freedom of movement without judgment or performance expectations.
Wellness Beyond Fitness
The workshop reflected FLO Fit Circle’s broader belief that wellness extends beyond physical fitness and measurable outcomes. It also encompasses joy, freedom, emotional wellbeing, and the rediscovery of parts of ourselves that can quietly be set aside amid professional and personal responsibilities.
Dance offered a unique pathway to that experience. Unlike a structured workout, it encouraged expression rather than discipline, allowing members to connect with their bodies and emotions through movement.
The Confidence to Let Go
Members described the sessions as unexpectedly uplifting and emotional, experiencing a sense of lightness that came from moving without judgment or the pressure of choreographic perfection.
Several participants reflected that they could not remember the last time they had moved so freely, without external expectations or their own inner critic influencing every gesture.
By the end of the second day, the experience had evolved beyond physical activity. 45 members had rediscovered a different kind of confidence — one rooted not in capability, but in the permission to be imperfect, be seen, and simply move.
That freedom was the most meaningful takeaway from Sohum Deb’s workshop.
