Connection Before Correction

YFLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Anisha Juneja, hosted “Connection Before Correction” on 6th August 2026 at Williams Court, Kolkata, under its Health & Wellness and Life Skills Initiatives. The session brought together mothers and members for an insightful conversation on conscious parenting, child psychology and the powerful influence of the subconscious mind on a child’s emotional and behavioural development.

The session was led by Schweta Merchant Gandhi, child psychology educator, subconscious mind coach, NLP Master Coach and founder of HappyMinds, known for her work in helping parents understand children’s emotional needs and behavioural patterns. A central focus of the discussion was the power of the subconscious mind, particularly during the formative years of childhood. Schweta explored how early experiences, repeated messages, parental reactions and the emotional environment at home can influence a child’s beliefs, confidence, self-image and behavioural responses.

Through the philosophy of “Connection Before Correction,” she emphasised the importance of understanding the emotions behind a child’s behaviour rather than immediately resorting to discipline or punishment. The discussion explored tantrums, emotional regulation, communication, positive reinforcement and the importance of creating a secure and supportive environment for children. Another important takeaway was the role of parental self-awareness. Schweta encouraged parents to reflect on their own emotional responses, subconscious beliefs and parenting patterns, highlighting how conscious communication and emotional connection can help build stronger parent-child relationships.

The session also encouraged meaningful conversations among members, creating a supportive space to reflect on everyday parenting challenges and exchange perspectives.Through this initiative, YFLO Kolkata reinforced its commitment to holistic well-being and practical life skills, recognising that empowering women also means equipping them with the awareness, confidence and tools to nurture emotionally resilient children and build healthier family relationships.
