AI Empowerment for Army Agniveers – Building Digital Skills for the Future

FLO Bengaluru’s Social Impact Circle organised “AI Empowerment for Army Agniveers – Building Digital Skills for the Future” on 30th October 2026, with the objective of equipping 250 Army Agniveers with practical Artificial Intelligence skills and strengthening their digital capabilities. The initiative was designed to introduce young defence personnel to the growing applications of AI in everyday administrative, documentation, and clerical responsibilities, while also building transferable skills that could support their long-term professional development.

The workshop was led by Aryaman Harlalka from Advita, who conducted an interactive three-hour theoretical session followed by a 30-minute break and a one-hour hands-on practical session. The training covered AI-powered applications of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with practical demonstrations of document drafting, spreadsheet creation, data management, report preparation, and professional communication.

A key feature of the programme was its emphasis on experiential learning. During the practical session, participants used their smartphones to explore AI tools, practise effective prompt writing, and generate documents, reports, and other relevant outputs. This enabled the Agniveers to move beyond understanding AI concepts to applying them to real-world tasks.

The programme was coordinated with the Indian Army through Colonel Chandraveer, who served as the primary point of contact. The initiative was supported by First Step Babywear, which contributed sponsorship of ₹2,00,000 towards the programme. The workshop marked an important step towards bridging the digital skills gap and making AI literacy more accessible to defence personnel. By introducing practical, productivity-oriented applications of AI, the programme aimed to improve efficiency, accuracy, and confidence in handling administrative responsibilities.

Beyond the immediate training, the initiative seeks to create opportunities for further AI and digital literacy programmes in collaboration with the Indian Army, extending these skills to additional batches of Agniveers. It reflects FICCI FLO Bengaluru’s commitment to inclusive capacity building and empowering individuals with relevant, future-ready skills that can support both their current responsibilities and future career transitions.
