SHE MEANS BUSINESS Business Readiness for Women Entrepreneurs

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote entrepreneurship and support women-led enterprises, FICCI FLO Chennai, through its MSME Vertical, organized a webinar titled “SHE MEANS BUSINESS – Business Readiness for Women Entrepreneurs” on 14 June 2026.

The webinar was conceived as the first phase of a larger initiative aimed at helping women entrepreneurs transition from informal business activities to professionally managed enterprises through awareness, mentoring, and business formalization.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Chapter Chairperson Dr. Amulya, who highlighted the importance of women’s participation in the MSME sector and FLO’s commitment towards creating meaningful platforms that support entrepreneurial growth and economic empowerment.

Dr. Geetha Premkumar, MSME Vertical Lead, FICCI FLO Chennai, delivered an insightful session on “Entrepreneurship Readiness – From Passion to Profession.” Drawing from her experience as a first-generation entrepreneur and mentor, she discussed the entrepreneurial mindset, the transition from passion-led ventures to sustainable businesses, common mistakes made by small business owners and the importance of business discipline, customer focus and long-term thinking.

The second session was delivered by CS Gopal, Founder of Beacon Corporate Advisors LLP, who explained the significance of business formalization and provided a practical overview of Udyam Registration, its benefits, eligibility criteria and registration process. Participants gained valuable insights into how formalization can contribute to business credibility, growth opportunities and access to various MSME benefits.

The webinar generated encouraging interest among participants, particularly women engaged in home-based ventures, small businesses and entrepreneurial pursuits. The discussions helped create awareness about the need for professionalization and structured business growth.

Participants were also introduced to the concept of the proposed Udyam Mela and MSME Mentoring Clinic, which is intended to provide one-to-one mentoring, practical guidance, and support for business formalization.

The initiative received encouraging interest from participants, and several members expressed their willingness to take the next step towards building professionally managed enterprises. Based on participant confirmations and registrations, the Udyam Mela and Mentoring Clinic will be scheduled shortly, enabling interested entrepreneurs to benefit from personalized mentoring, business guidance and Udyam registration support. The MSME Vertical looks forward to taking this initiative forward as the next phase of the SHE MEANS BUSINESS programme.

The webinar successfully achieved its objective of sensitizing participants to the importance of entrepreneurial readiness, business formalization, and sustainable enterprise development, while laying the foundation for future mentoring and MSME support initiatives under the MSME Vertical.
