Mehendi Workshop

FLO Bangalore, under its Social Impact Circle, successfully concluded a three-week Mehendi Workshop on 7th July 2026 at Sackhumvit Trust House, Hebbal, empowering women with a marketable skill that combines traditional artistry with sustainable livelihood opportunities. Conducted in partnership with Sackhumvit Trust and Vidya Centre of Excellence, the programme focused on transforming the culturally significant art of mehendi into a pathway for entrepreneurship and financial independence.

Over the course of 21 days, participants underwent intensive practical training in bridal, festive, and contemporary mehendi techniques. The curriculum covered intricate design layouts, speed techniques, precision, and professional finishing skills, enabling participants to confidently undertake both personal and commercial assignments. The workshop also introduced participants to the business aspects of the profession, including client engagement, pricing, and preparing for the high-demand festive and wedding seasons.

The initiative was supported by Chairperson Deepa Reddy, Rupa Bajaj from the FLO National Team, Neelam Agarwal, Social Impact Vertical Head, and the FLO Bengaluru Social Impact Team, all of whom encouraged participants to view the skill as a gateway to entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

Beyond technical expertise, the workshop fostered confidence, collaboration, and peer support among the participants, many of whom expressed their intention to launch freelance mehendi businesses or supplement their household incomes through seasonal assignments. Informal support networks were also established to enable participants to share client referrals, collaborate on projects, and source materials collectively.

Aligned with FLO Bengaluru’s commitment to livelihood creation and women’s empowerment, the programme demonstrated how low-investment, high-value skills can create sustainable economic opportunities. By equipping women with professional capabilities and entrepreneurial confidence, the Mehendi Workshop reinforced the belief that empowering a woman with a skill not only transforms her future but also strengthens her family and community.
