FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Niyati A Mehta, hosted an engaging Sunday evening session with renowned author Amitav Ghosh at the Hyatt Regency. The conversation flowed seamlessly across literature, culture, and contemporary global issues, creating a deeply enriching experience for everyone present. Members were treated to an intimate and insightful interaction that reflected the depth and breadth of the author’s thought.
During the discussion, Amitav Ghosh spoke about his book Ghost Eye, delving into its themes and inspirations, including reflections on reincarnation. He also shared vivid anecdotes and perspectives on Bengali food and cultural narratives, bringing alive the richness of his heritage and storytelling traditions, much to the delight of the audience.
The conversation expanded beyond literature into timely and thought-provoking reflections on climate change and global warming. Amitav Ghosh’s insights on these pressing issues added a powerful dimension to the session, leaving members with much to reflect upon. At the end of the session, Amitav Ghosh graciously signed copies of his new book for all the members, making the evening even more memorable. The event was attended by around 90 FLO members and 117 FLO members.
