Harela – Celebrating Green Footprints

FLO Uttarakhand, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Geeta Khanna, hosted a sustainable event, Harela – Celebrating Green Footprints at the scenic Lacchiwala Nature Park, Dehradun. The event, organized as part of its commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness, brought together FLO members, government dignitaries, and environmental advocates in a shared mission to honour nature and promote a greener future. 

The day was thoughtfully anchored by the day chairs, Smriti Batta, Secretary & Initiative Lead of Sustainability, FLO Uttarakhand, and Venu Dhingra, Working Team Member – Sustainability. Their efforts in planning and executing the event ensured its smooth conduct and meaningful impact. The celebration was graced by Shri Subodh Uniyal, Hon’ble Minister of Forest, Uttarakhand, as the Chief Guest, along with Mrs Anuradha Sudhanshu, wife of Principal Secretary. 

His presence underscored the importance of collective action toward sustainable development. A total of 49 attendees were present, including Tripti Behl, Senior Vice Chairperson; Meenakshi Soti, Vice Chairperson; and several other dedicated FLO Uttarakhand members, who came together to support this eco-conscious initiative with great enthusiasm and commitment. 

The event featured a tree plantation drive where over 500 saplings were planted, symbolizing growth, renewal, and a commitment to a sustainable tomorrow and reducing the carbon footprint of 10,500KG of CO2. Attendees also engaged in meaningful discussions about environmental responsibility and the cultural relevanceof Harela, which is deeply rooted in Uttarakhand’s tradition of celebrating nature. 

The Harela celebration served as a strong reminder of our shared duty to protect and preserve the environment, while reinforcing FLO Uttarakhand’s vision of integrating sustainability into every aspect ofcommunity engagement and women-led initiatives. This event garnered engagement by reaching 1.5 lakh individuals.
