Samuhik Vivah Of 51 Brides- A Community Wedding Initiative

FLO Kanpur, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Kriti Shroff, organized the Samuhik Vivah for 51 brides, creating a heartwarming and memorable day for the couples and their families at Dussehra Ground, Anandpuri. Hosted under the community service vertical, the event witnessed the presence of over 2500 family members and more than 500 guests, reflecting immense community support and participation.

The ceremony included traditional rituals, blessings, distribution of essential items, and the culmination in a graceful vidai. Underprivileged brides were also provided with skill development training, enabling them to begin their new journey with self-reliance and dignity. The event was meticulously planned and executed by the team, with volunteers working tirelessly from early morning until the completion of all ceremonies.

Generous contributions from FLO members—including both cash donations and in-kind gifts such as tiffins, shawls, electric kettles, water coolers, garments, suhaag potlis, and blankets—greatly enhanced the support extended to all 51 couples. The objective was to combine celebration with upliftment, ensuring financial independence, confidence, and long-term livelihood opportunities.

The Samuhik Vivah initiative created a profound positive impact on the lives of the 51 brides and their families. The skill-training provided in Mehendi, Beauty, and Stitching equipped the brides with practical capabilities to pursue income-generating opportunities, fostering empowerment and long-term economic independence.

The generous contributions—both monetary and in-kind—ensured that each couple began their married life with essential resources, dignity, and confidence. Overall, the initiative strengthened community bonds and highlighted FLO Kanpur’s commitment to women-centric empowerment and social responsibility, inspiring hope, dignity, and new beginnings for all 51 couples.
