Sakhi – From Waste to Wonder

FLO Ahmedabad, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Madhu Banthia, organized design and skill training sessions for women artisans to upcycle discarded textiles and materials into functional lifestyle products.

The session focused on empowering women and girls from low-income communities in Ahmedabad through upcycling and creative product-making — merging sustainability with livelihood creation.

The initiative promotes a circular economy by turning waste materials into marketable products, fostering dignity, creativity, and economic independence. Products Crafted:

  • Yoga Mats – crafted from layered, upcycled fabric.
  • Table Runners & Godris (quilts) – blending design, reuse, and comfort.
  • Dog Beds – sustainable pet comfort using repurposed materials.
  • Scrunchies & Jewellery – stylish accessories made from fabric remnants.
  • Door Hangings, Heart Pins & Jhapatiyas – handcrafted décor with a creative twist.

Around 40+ women and girls are trained and engaged in production. Local NGOs, craft mentors, and sustainable designers are associated with FLO Ahmedabad. There is a plan to launch the Sakhi Collection to promote brand identity in the next Quarter, 2025-2026.
