FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Niyati A. Mehta, hosted a power-packed session with Dr. Thamizhachi Thangapandian at Taj Connemara, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to empower women through sustainable livelihood initiatives.
Project THIRAN, skilling for industrial tailoring, was launched by FLO Chennai, in collaboration with the Giving Matters Foundation, where women from rural and underprivileged backgrounds will be training in an Advanced Tailoring Programme.
This initiative focuses on the socio-economic upliftment of women from vulnerable communities in North Chennai’s urban slums — many of whom are single parents, widows, or daily wage workers struggling with financial instability. Post training, the women will be able to get jobs in export factories, in and around the North Chennai area.
FLO Chennai extends heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Rinku Mecheri, Past Chairperson, also the director of Giving Matters Foundation, for their continued guidance and support in driving forward the organization’s mission to empower women through education, skill development, and entrepreneurship. Around 140 attendees participated in this session and benefited by gaining employable skills.
