FLO Chennai, under the leadership of the Chairperson, Ms. Niyati A Mehta, organized a session, “The Power Play Table: Mahjong & Entrepreneurship 101,” focused on discovering how the strategic principles of Mahjong can translate into powerful lessons for business and success.
The session was led by guest speaker Ms. Ria Bajaj, Co-Founder of The Mahjong Network. She focused on a unique approach to life and business, moving beyond traditional branding. Ms. Ria highlighted that the core principles of Mahjong—strategy, foresight, and adaptability—provide valuable lessons for success, demonstrating how to translate the game’s concepts into effective professional and personal life strategies.
The event offered a unique and engaging session connecting the principles of the ancient game of Mahjong with modern strategies for entrepreneurship and success in life. A detailed explanation of the Mahjong set was provided, covering what constitutes a typical bag, the various types of cards/tiles—Suited tiles like Bamboos, Dots, and Characters, and Honor tiles like Winds and Dragons—and their significance.
The session specifically covered the Mahjong network in Chennai, highlighting its function as a community for players to connect, learn, and play. The speaker introduced Anushka as a known teacher or point of contact for learning Mahjong within the Chennai network. A significant point was made about Mahjong’s utility as a way to connect with people in different cities and countries when traveling, offering an instant shared language and activity for networking globally. Around 50 attendees participated in this engaging session.
