Ek Prayas – Finance Workshop

FLO Chennai, led by Chairperson Dr. Divya Abhishek, and in collaboration with Volunteers, guided by Past Chairperson Ms. Rinku Mecheri, a financial literacy initiative was conducted across 3 institutions. This initiative, attended by 375 people, aimed to equip students with essential financial knowledge, empowering them with the skills necessary for financial independence and decision-making.

The workshop was conducted at three institutions: Kesari Higher Secondary School, Mary Club Jadwala Girls Higher Secondary School, and Vaishnav College. At Kesari Higher Secondary School in T. Nagar, 60 students from the 9th standard participated in interactive sessions, facilitated by 3 volunteers. At Mary Club, Jadwala Girls Higher Secondary School, 65 students from the 9th standard benefited from sessions scheduled, led by 2 volunteers.

The program was also conducted at Vaishnav College, where 250 college students attended an intensive 2-hour session. The workshop covered fundamental financial concepts, including budgeting, savings, banking, and investment strategies, tailored to the student’s age and academic levels.

Volunteers from FLO Chennai played a role in conducting these sessions. Ms. Shruti Shingvi Bothra, Empowerment Vertical Head, actively took the classes, along with several other FLO Chennai members who volunteered to ensure the success of the initiative.

By partnering with Chennai Volunteers, the program ensured impactful and engaging delivery of financial education. Through interactive learning, real-life case studies, and expert guidance, the students were encouraged to cultivate smart financial habits that would benefit them in the long run.
