Basic IT Training for Underprivileged Women

FLO Chennai, in collaboration with the Association for Non-Traditional Employment for Women (ANEW), launched a Basic IT training program to empower 35 female students with essential digital skills and holistic development. The project was entirely funded by FLO members’ generous contributions, amounting to ?2,78,250 for the 2024-2025 financial year.

The program commenced on July 19, 2024, and concluded on November 5, 2024. Batch No. 296 was led by technical trainer Mr. Sivasankar and the course curriculum covered both IT theory and practical applications. Integrated sessions on communicative English, soft skills, personal hygiene, and career guidance were included, with technical presentations enhancing participantsÍ readiness for the workplace.

The initiative also featured an industrial visit to Cognizant Technology Solutions, facilitated by the Cognizant Foundation, where beneficiaries gained exposure to corporate culture and participated in an interview clinic. This clinic focused on resume building, interview techniques, personality development, and communication skills, helping participants build confidence and prepare for future job opportunities.

The final exam, conducted by NIIT on November 5, 2024, reflected impressive results: 3 participants achieved an “Outstanding” score (90-100%), 11 earned ñExcellentî (80-89%), 14 scored ñVery Goodî (70-79%), 4 received ñGoodî (60-69%), and 3 achieved a ñSatisfactoryî rating (50-59%), with all participants passing. Certificates and job placement support were provided to graduates entering the workforce.

Through this initiative, FLO Chennai has impacted 35 beneficiaries, equipping them with skills and confidence to pursue professional opportunities. This effort, supported by FLO membersÍ contributions, underscores the collective commitment to creating sustainable change and empowering women for a brighter future.
