Pathways to Excellence: Empowering Young Minds for a Brighter Future
FICCI FLO Mumbai, in collaboration with CSR supporters, hosted a special event titled “Pathways to Excellence” at the SHED Community Center, Kalina, Santa Cruz East, Mumbai. The event aimed to recognize and support deserving students while providing them with tools for personal and academic growth.
Scholarships and Career Guidance
A significant highlight of the event was the awarding of 40 scholarships to meritorious students from Std. 9 and 10, aimed at supporting their further studies. These scholarships were given to students who demonstrated academic excellence and strong potential for future success.
The program also included career counseling sessions, led by Ms. Bakhtawar Krishnan, Founder of Inspirus Educational Specialist and FICCI FLO Mumbai’s knowledge partner. During these sessions, students explored diverse career paths, with many expressing a strong interest in joining the defense forces, police, and merchant navy. Ms. Krishnan provided valuable guidance on how these students could pursue careers in these fields, including the qualifications and steps necessary to succeed. Her expertise helped the students gain clarity on the opportunities available to them and the pathways they need to follow to achieve their ambitions.
Time Management and Productivity
Another key aspect of the event was a session focused on the importance of time management. Students were taught how to structure their day to enhance productivity, emphasizing the balance between academics, extracurricular activities, and personal time. These practical insights aimed to equip students with essential skills that can help them achieve their long-term goals.
Teachers’ Day Celebration
In addition to the educational elements of the program, the event also celebrated Teachers’ Day, a day dedicated to honoring the role of teachers in shaping young minds. The students prepared and performed for the volunteers and teachers in attendance, showcasing their talents through songs and performances. This moment brought a sense of joy and appreciation, highlighting the deep connection between students and their mentors.
Entertainment and Magic
The evening culminated in an engaging magic show and a sing-along program, which brought smiles to the faces of the 200 children in attendance. The entertainment provided a much-needed break from the rigors of academic discussions, allowing the students to enjoy themselves and create happy memories. The performances and magic show were truly the highlight of the event, leaving the children filled with joy and excitement.
Inspiration from Ariana Singhi
The event also featured Ms. Ariana Singhi, a student of Std. 11 and daughter of FLO member Niti Singhi, who shared her inspiring story of social entrepreneurship. Ariana began her journey at the age of 13 with her brand SWAPS, which created interchangeable sleeves for spectacles to help destigmatize specs-wearing among children. Scheduled for a national launch in December, SWAPS has already gained design registration from the Indian Patent Office.
ArianaÍs brand has had a profound impact, conducting multiple eye camps for visually impaired children in underserved communities and converting a children’s newspaper into Braille, reaching over 5000 children. She spoke passionately about how a simple idea can lead to innovation, sharing her journey to inspire the students to pursue their own entrepreneurial dreams and make a positive difference in society.
Pathways to Excellence successfully combined education, guidance, and celebration, providing students with valuable tools for their academic and personal development. The event not only supported students financially through scholarships but also gave them access to career advice from Ms. Bakhtawar Krishnan, essential life skills, and a day of fun and appreciation, leaving a lasting impact on all those who attended.
